Straight to the Points – Loyalty Points and Elite Benefits When Booking with a Travel Advisor

If you’re anything like us, you’re a little like George Clooney in Up in the Air - collecting every reward point you can. At Key Travel Advisors, we’re points collectors and enthusiasts too! We like free travel and perks as much as everyone else.

We wanted to answer a few questions we often get about collecting and using your points. Let us know if you have any other questions we could answer.

Do I Earn Points & Receive Elite Benefits when Booking with Key Travel Advisors?

Yes! When you book with us you accrue rewards points and receive perks from your elite status. Not only that, but for our 1000s of preferred hotel partners we could add complimentary benefits or access lower non-public rates or availability. From time to time we offer you options where you do not earn points or receive elite benefits if the rate represents good value. We’ll let you know when that’s the case.

What is the Best Use of My Points?

Rewards points have value, and you should spend them wisely. If you have a limited number of points we generally recommend using your points for flights.

  • Airline redemptions often offer the best return for your points, especially in premium cabins.

  • When booking hotels through us, our advisors leverage our relationships to enhance and personalize your experience, and add extra value – something not available when you redeem points for your room. With plane tickets a seat is a seat — you’re not forgoing any added benefits when using points to book your flight.

What are the Best Points to Have?

In our view the best way to maximize credit card rewards is to focus on transferrable points such as American Express Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, or Citi ThankYou - programs that allow you to move points to a variety of hotel and airline partners, instead of building large balances with a single program like United MileagePlus or Marriott Bonvoy. Collecting transferrable points allows you to access multiple programs, and protects you against devaluations of a single currency. The different programs transfer to different partners, and each has its own advantages and drawbacks.

Of course, there may be exceptions to this based on each individual’s circumstances. If you’d like guidance on how to best maximize your points, or advice on working towards a particular points redemption reach out to us to advise on a strategy.

Key Takeaways

When you book through Key Travel Advisors, you generally accrue rewards points and receive perks from your elite status. If you have a limited number of points, we recommend using them for airline tickets, which offer outsized value versus hotel stays.

If you have questions about how to maximize the value of your points, or how to best collect them, let’s talk.
